Polystar sold 20 lines since K 2016 in Düsseldorf

With the slogan “Recycling Made Simple,” POLYSTAR showcased with live machine demonstration, processing various types of in-house waste including HDPE, LDPE, BOPP flexible packaging film as well as PP raffia and woven material with the same machine. Visitors were able to see how simple the operation is and how fast the machine can change from processing one type of material to another.

Project helps drive development of recycling options

The project is a collaboration of the whole value chain, from polymer production, packaging manufacturers, global brand owners, to waste management and recycling companies.

Flexible packaging such as plastic bags, confectionery wrappers, frozen food bags and pouches makes up 27% of consumer plastic packaging in the UK, and much of this ends up in landfills or energy recovery.

New flexible packaging recycling study

Resource Recycling Systems has released the results from a study (commissioned by Materials Recovery for the Future) on the ability to recover flexible plastic packaging using existing sortation technology.

The findings, documented in the report Flexible Packaging Sortation at Materials Recovery Facilities, demonstrates that with adequate screening and optical sorting capacity, flexible plastic packaging can be efficiently captured in a single-stream MRF.
