KBA Australasia now also distributes Flexotecnica CI flexo presses

KBA expands its presence with CI flexo web presses for flexible packaging in Australia and New Zealand. At drupa It's subsidiary KBA Australasia signed a sales and service agreement with KBA-Flexotecnica.

Dave Lewis, general manager of KBA Australasia: “Services for existing flexo customers are thus secured and we are able to strengthen our position in this growth market considerably. We have gained an experienced sales manager for the cutting-edge presses from KBA-Flexotecnica with Peter Stewart.”

Flexo with water-based inks at drupa

According to KBA-Flexotecnica their new NEO XD LR Hybrid is the only CI flexo press which is doing print runs with low-migration water-based inks at drupa.

The press is designed to print solvent-based, water-based as well as UV-LED or EB inks on most substrates.

The NEO XD LR Hybrid is available with up to 12 printing units, printing lengths up to 1,200mm, a maximum printing width of 1,650 mm and a maximum production speed of 500m/min.

All in one flexo press

KBA-Flexotecnica will be showcasing the new CI flexo NEO XD LR HYBRID at Drupa. It has been designed for printing with solvent and water-based inks as well as curing ink systems, such as UV-LED and EB. The press comes with up to twelve colours, a printing repeat from 400 to 1,200mm, a maximum web width of 1,650 mm and a maximum printing speed of up to 500 m/min.

The press is equipped with a new ultra-stiff printing unit designed to minimize the effects of vibration and plate bounce in the most severe printing conditions ensuring an excellent print quality at maximum speed.

Packaging makes 70% of KBA's revenue

The Koenig & Bauer AG financial statements for 2015 underline the press manufacturer’s successful group realignment within the past two years. At EUR 1,025.1m group revenue met its target of over EUR 1bn. The decrease in revenue compared to 2014 (EUR 1.1bn) was the result of the security press business and lower sales in the Digital & Web segment due to the realignment.
