DowDuPont Reports Q3 2017 Net Sales Up 23% Over Q3 2016

The newly merged DowDuPont reported Q3 2017 net sales increased 23%. Pro forma net sales increased to $18.3 billion, up 8 percent versus the year-ago period, led by gains in the Materials Science segments Industrial Intermediates & Infrastructure (16%), Packaging & Specialty Plastics and Performance Materials & Coatings (8% each), and the Specialty Products segments Transportation & Advanced Polymers (9%) and Safety & Construction (6%).

Indorama acquires BOPP producer

Chemical firm Indorama Ventures is set to acquire BOPP producer DuPont Teijin Films in its move to diversify into further industry segments. 

The acquisition includes eight production assets in the US, Europe and China, with a global innovation centre in the UK.

DuPont collects bioplastics award

DuPont Industrial Biosciences and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) has recently received a joint award in the 2017 Innovation in Bioplastics Awards because of their production of the furan dicarboxylic methyl ester (FDME).

The technology is a bio-based monomer made from fructose, and is one of the 12 building blocks identified by the US Department of Energy which can be converted for use in different applications such as packaging, textiles and engineering plastics.

August 31 Merger finishing date set by DuPont and Dow

All the essential governing consents, and permissions have been received by the Dow Chemical Co. and DuPontto close their mergers on August 31 when the market closes. 
Trading of DuPont and Dow’s share will close on August 31 and they can start a transaction on the NYSE under the stock ticker on September 1, 2017. Within 18 months of closing, the companies expect the intended spin-offs to take place.
