Bemis hires Goldman Sachs to explore sale options

According to media reports Bemis hired Goldman Sachs to explore sale options. It is said that  DS Smith is working with Citigroup and is interested in pursuing the $4.2 billion market cap Bemis. Furthermore there  were reports that based Amcor was working on an offer for Bemis as it looks to expand it US operations.

Dow Packaging And Specialty Plastics Collaborate To Make Trash Bags From Recycled Plastic Scrap

Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics has recently entered into a collaboration to develop a trash bag made from post-industrial plastic scrap. This was part of their participation in the Trash Free Seas Alliance, along with Bemis Co., Inc and Polykar Inc. The bags were used to clean up beaches around the United States.

The recycled trash bag is a sign of Dow’s longstanding commitment to reduce marine debris.

Amcor plans takeover of Bemis

The Australian packaging products giant is exploring the possibility of acquiring Bemis Co. Inc. of Neenah. This was reported by Bloomberg, stating that it is an estimated $4.3 billion deal. The acquisition would make Amcor the fourth largest packaging company in the world.

Analysts from Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. also stated that the takeover would complement Amcor’s flexible packaging business.

Evadix to sell flexible packaging business in Romania to Bemis

Evadix Group, a Belgian polymer printing services provider, will sell its Romanian subsidiary Labels and MPI to Bemis for 3.3 million euro. The transaction is expected to be completed in the 4th quarter of 2017.

The acquisition will allow Bemis to increase its ability to produce packaging films in Europe.

Fire causes a damage at a Bemis plant in Lebanon

An estimated $250,000 is damaged due to an early morning fire on Monday in a Bemis plant in Lebanon, PA. Inside the plant, a machine caught fire, but there were no major injuries. 
On the second floor, the fire started where the machine located and the machine is operated for laminating labels. All the workers were immediately evacuated those who were working inside the plant.
