Sun Chemical teams up with ACPO

Sun Chemical partners with coater of flexible films ACPO to meet the growing demand for high barrier transparent packaging.

According to Sun Chemical, ACPO specializes in coating thin films with state of the art equipment. Only few converters have the capability to coat thin films, only a limited number were able to take advantage of Sun Chemical's SunBar oxygen barrier coating technology.

BASF launches Ultramid copolyamide for film applications

BASF's new Ultramid C37LC allows manufacturers of shrink film for food packaging to achieve higher hot water and hot air shrinking. The manufacturer can thus forgo the otherwise usual admixture of amorphous polyamides, which makes the production process leaner and more efficient.

The improved properties of the product also avoid undesired curling of asymmetrical multi-layer films with polyethylene or polypropylene. These films are used for stand-up pouches, lid films and deep drawing applications, among others.

Cosmo Films set up a CPP line

The Indian company Cosmo Films set up a CPP line with production capacity of 1800 mtpa at its existing facility in Waluj, Aurangabad. Since this February the company is producing eight products under their CPP portfolio.

Currently the portfolio consists of three transparent, three metallised and two speciality products (high speed packaging and antifog films). According to Cosmo this is just the beginning and company is already working on further developing the portfolio.

Transform used plastic into raw material

Under which prerequisites can used plastic packaging be transformed into new raw material in the recycling cycle? This was the topic of a workshop conducted at Bischof + Klein with Prof. Gilian Gerke, professor of resource management at Magdeburg-Stendal University.
