UV main and back exposure in a single operation

At drupa, Esko will introduce the XPS Crystal 5080, a new flexo plate UV LED exposure device which device combines UV main and back exposure in a single operation. With the CDI Crystal 5080 a new digital flexo plate imager will also be introduced. Both devices can be connected as one single device, the CDI Crystal 5080 XPS, thus combining plate imaging and exposing into a single operation. According to Esko, this solution cuts the number of manual handling steps by 50% and reduces the time needed to produce a press-ready plate by almost 70%.

Environmental laws in China pose a chance for flexo

New compact gravure cylinder engraving line

For the 2016 drupa, the Ohio Gravure Technologies is complementing its Spectrum engravers with the Spectrum Compact model.

Flint wins FTA Technical Innovation Award

 Flint Group Flexographic Products accepted the 2016 FTA Technical Innovation Award for its nyloflex FTF Digital plate. The first commercially available plate of its kind, the nyloflex FTF Digital plate offers flat top dots and a micro-textured surface without the need for additional processing steps or digital surface screening. The plates are available in .045” and .067” thicknesses.

Almost double the performance for direct laser engraving

The new “High Performance Package” Cellaxy direct laser engraver from HELL Gravure Systems increases its performance. The just introduced package nearly doubles Cellaxy’s performance capability – when engraving gravure cylinders or lasering embossing forms. The “High Performance Package” is now optionally available for Cellaxy. According to Hell, previously installed systems can be retrofitted.

Afflatus Gravures has invested in three additional CFM rotary and polishing machines from Daetwyler. Aided by these investments, the company wants to consistently streamline its entire working processes and respond more flexibly to growing customer demands. Afflatus specifically praised the CFM’s highly precise turning and polishing results. Another crucial advantage is that measurement, turning and polishing units are individually programmable. This facilitates fully automated workflows that require no operator intervention.

Miller Graphics increases quality

Belgium based packaging specialist Miller Graphics Roeselare has invested in an Esko Full HD Flexo CDI advance cantilever, which is said to be the first ever flexo imaging device for both plates and ITR (in-the-round) sleeves. This is already the second Full HD CDI device for the Miller Graphics Group.

According to Esko, Full HD enables flexo printers to produce gravure like quality.
