Solutions to enhance the packaging added value

At K, Comexi (Hall4/B21) is presenting its new products developed for the different steps of flexible packaging converting. In lamination visitors will have the opportunity to discover the different solutions in laminators with and without solvents, like Comexi ML1 and Comexi SL2. The Comexi Nexus Futura guarantees a holographic finish thanks to the Cast & Cure technology, creating a visual register effect using a UV lacquer, without the need for laminating and completely free of VOC. It also offers copy protection to guarantee the genuineness of the packaging.

Dow launches US center on laminating adhesives

Dow recently entered a joint collaboration with Nordmeccanica aimed at driving laminating adhesives development. In 2015, this collaboration led to the opening of Dow’s Pack Studios in Mozzate, Italy. Now both companies have opened the Pack Studios Ringwood.

The facility is equipped with a collaboration room and a Nordmeccanica Super Combi 3000 laminator line. This equipment allows customers to test, prototype and bring forward innovations to advance solutions for the laminating.

Comexi presents added value solutions

At K Comexi will showcase new products that has been developed for almost every flexible packaging converting steps.

 

In lamination visitors will have the opportunity to discover the different solutions in laminators with and without solvents, like Comexi Nexus ML1 and Comexi Nexus SL2.

Comexi will also show the L20000, water-based laminating machine specially designed for laminations just in time and that responds to the needs of the digital printing press HP Indigo 20000.

Multi purpose coating line from Uteco

At K 2016 Uteco will introduce MULTI-PURPOSE, a concept which facilitates to obtain the maximum flexibility of the various coating technologies in a single unit.

The operator can choose between the gravure, flexo, semiflexo or reverse roll coating, with chamber and positive doctor blade, simply through the replacement of the “trolley”; all of this is conceived either for solvent, water, UV and EB coating.

This concept can be integrated in line to flexo, gravure and digital printing presses in order to obtain the highest flexibility.

Laminating line from KBA-Flexotecnica

At K 2016 KBA-Flexotecnica will launch the laminating machine EVOLAM.

The manufacturer states that this new machine permits the efficient use of solvent-free adhesives and scores with high performance, low consumption and convincing cost-effectiveness.

Key factors contributing to a fast return on investment are a newly developed technology for the homogeneous application of minimal amounts of adhesive over the whole material surface, as well as the optimised web tension control.

Toray about to expand metallisation capabilities

Toray Plastics has begun construction on a new 28,800 sqft (2601 sqm) facility designed to house a new 4500 mm metallizer. The construction is expected to be completed by December 2016, and the production of the new metallizer will commence in 2017.

Eco efficiency analysis about water based adhesives

BASF’s water-based adhesive systems are an environmentally compatible and economically rewarding alternative to conventional technologies when it comes to lamination of flexible food packaging. This is the outcome of a recent eco-efficiency analysis conducted by BASF and COMEXI, a leading supplier of converting solutions for the flexible packaging industry. For the study, which started in 2013 and was completed by the end of 2015, four typical adhesive technologies were analyzed and compared.
