Next Generation Films adds several VAREX blown film lines from W&H

As part of the USD 75 million expansion at Next Generation Films in Lexington, OH, the company has ordered several VAREX blown film lines from Windmöller & Hölscher for the production of multilayer specialty films.

Next Generation CEO, Dave Frecka, said the company will fill its new plant with leading edge technology to mix with its “own brand of magic” and set the standard for film in the industry. He added, “We’ve chosen W&H for future growth based on the success we’ve experienced together over the past years.”

PT Kencar installs Davis-Standard cast film technology

Indonesian film producer PT Kencar Sukses Investama is adding two more Davis-Standard cast film machines to their facility in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. This brings their total to four Davis-Standard machines in just over five years. According to Davis Standard, Kencar was the first company in Southeast Asia to introduce five-layer CPP films, and with the additional Davis-Standard machines, will become the first with six-layer capabilities.

Addex's cooling solution delivers output gains for blown film extrusion

Addex has launched the Intensive Cooling Experience (ICE) system. The manufacturer claims that this cooling technology increases output for blown film extrusion lines by 40-60%.

The system adapts 40 year old cooling technology and is, accorting to Addex, an improvement over conventional air-ring technology. The new bubble cooling technology will be shown at the upcoming K 2016 exhibition (Hall 17/C37).

SML has yet again developed a bigger, faster and smarter stretch film line and will display this all-new PowerCast line at the K 2016 where live demonstration runs will provide evidence of its performance.

The PowerCast is a 4 m-wide (8-up) stretch film line for hand, machine and jumbo roll production, which combines low energy consumption with maximum production flexibility on a top performance level. Clearly designed for high output, the PowerCast is equipped with a 13-layer feedblock and eight extruders including edge encapsulation for maximum throughputs of 3,000 kg/h.

A. Schulman buys 5 layer blown film line

A. Schulman Inc added a 5-layer blown film extrusion lab line at its Polybatch Technology Center in Bornem, Belgium. 

The company acquired this new line to support the development of multi-layer applications. The new line allows outputs of 50 kg/h will primarily be used for research and development.

BOPP Market grows by 6%

A study from Transparency Market Research predicts that the BOPP will grow at 5.8% CAGR from 2016 to 2024, with the total value rising to USD 20.9 billion by the end of 2024. The food packaging sector is anticipated to be the fastest growing application segment. In terms of volume, Asia Pacific leads the global BOPP and the region accounted for a share of more than 55% in 2015.

Nordson will expand operations

Nordson will expand its operations in Münster to approximately four times the current size to optimize production and accommodate future growth. The expansion is part of a substantial global investment, including other expansion projects and investments in Europe and China.

What's more is that Nordson's BKG underwater pelletizer systems product brand is now also the group brand name for the company’s diverse range of polymer melt delivery equipment, including filtration systems, ovens, gear pumps, and valves.

Indian company buys Bandera blown film line

Mumbai based AVI Global Plast purchased its first Bandera film extrusion line. The new line has a max web width of 1050 mm and will take AVI’s total PET capacity to 1,000 tons per month, which makes them the biggest producer of high quality PET foil, according to Bandera. AVI has also invested in its second thermoforming line and new moulds.

Improved sealing performance of BOPP films

By using Vistamaxx polymers, Germany based Treofan has developed a 5 layer biaxially oriented polypropylene film with improved sealing capabilities. Using ExxonMobil's polymers in the heat sealable side of a new, metallized BOPP film simplifies the laminate structure, allows aluminum foil to be replaced and can reduce costs compared to market reference alternatives. 

The development facilitates to reduce the number of laminate components to be reduced from 3 layers to 2. The cost savings potential depends on the previously used PE sealant grade.
